About Monil

Monil aims to build the world's leading digital shepherd. Our first product is an electronic collar that lets farmers monitor and virtually fence their cattle. This saves the farmer a lot of time and money that would be spent looking for animals and maintaining fences. Additionally, our product can contribute to improved soil health, increased production, improved animal welfare and radically change how farmers manage livestock.

Monil is a young, yet experienced startup. It was started in 2022 by veterans from Prox Dynamics/Teledyne FLIR, Cognite and Silicone Labs. Energy efficient micro electronics, manufacturing and cloud platforms were in our DNA from the beginning. Since then, the team has grown to include a broader set of skills in front end, marketing, farmer success and sales.

Monil has solid backing from FIRDA, Innovation Norway and a range of smaller investors. We have been field testing our product with pilot customers for two years and are preparing to deliver to customers this spring. There is a very large market potential for this product and Monil is well positioned for global growth.

The mechanical challenge

The Monil Collar must keep working with very little energy for several years in a very tough environment. It needs to be affordable so that farmers everywhere can access this empowering technology. Additionally, we aim to build an elegant and ergonomic product that fits comfortably on a range of animals. The result is a very tough mechanical challenge that requires creativity, tenacity, multidisciplinary work and a lot of testing.

At Monil, we believe the best products require all disciplines under one roof. We design everything in-house and assemble our products in Norway. To contribute to this team, we believe it's beneficial if you have:

Experience in taking a product from concept to mass production
Experience with designing for injection molding
Prototyping skills
Experience with Onshape, Solidworks or a similar CAD-tool
Experience with, or interest in, electronics
Experience with building good relationships with suppliers
MSc in mechanical engineering or similar
The will to literally get your hands dirty. We test on cows and sheep in the field!
