The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH) is a specialized educational and research institutions and one of the highest‑ranked in the Nordic region within sport sciences. About the Position

Would you like to work as an adviser for an ambitious research environment? This is a great opportunity. The position plays an important role in ensuring that we fulfil our societal mission through targeted and efficient use of resources. We are seeking a specialist to strengthen NIH’s EU funding portfolio, with a broad international network related to external research funding.

As a research adviser, you will be part of NIH’s support system for our researchers, delivering administrative services to academic staff, PhD candidates, research centers, and research infrastructure. You thrive on a wide range of work tasks, have an interest in and ability to understand institutional and sector strategies and challenges.

The position is organized under the Department of Finance and Business Management. The role requires strong communication skills, you enjoy collaborating across disciplines, and have an interest in developing new routines and work processes within your area. Your Responsibilities

You will:

• mobilise and drive actions to increase externally funded research projects
• support researchers throughout the application process – both as a process facilitator and academic sparring partner
• quality‑assure applications and support project establishment
• guide and support academic environments administratively during project implementation
• advise management on strategic matters
• coordinate applications for joint calls
• contribute to analytical and assessment work for departments and management
• participate in interdisciplinary networks and relevant forums at NIH

Additional responsibilities include:

• insight into research policy and administration
• responsibility for training in relevant topics
• ongoing administrative tasks, case processing, and internal development projects 
• ability to collaborate across complex knowledge organisations and with external partners

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with strong professional integrity and personal suitability for the role. You have:

• relevant higher education at master’s level within a field relevant to NIH
• experience with tasks related to the position
• experience with international and national funding instruments for research (preferably EU and the Research Council of Norway)
• familiarity with the Long‑term Plan for Research and Higher Education, national and regional funding instruments for research and innovation, and the EU’s Horizon Europe programme
• experience with research and/or research administration, as well as project management/administration of research projects is an advantage
• excellent English skills, both oral and written
• good Norwegian skills (B2 level) within three years. If you do not meet this requirement upon employment, Norwegian language training will be required by agreement
• strong IT skills
• experience leading processes and/or projects is an advantage

It is desirable that you have good understanding of the Health Research Act, an interest in research ethics, and the ability to conduct academic assessments.
