Senior Java Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of legacy monolithic applications to Java-based microservices.
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Deploy and manage applications in AWS Kubernetes environments.
• Optimize database performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop secure production-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
• Support integrations with internal, external, and third-party systems.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot.
• Participate in production support and on-call rotations.
• Mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with development.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of Java development experience.
• Strong expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications into microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
• Knowledge of OAuth and application security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with development.
• Ruby-to-Java migration experience is preferred.
• Federal government or healthcare IT experience is preferred.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Must successfully pass a government suitability review and background investigation.
• Must have lived continuously within the United States for the previous three consecutive years.
