About the position

This professorship is part of a strategic initiative by Molde University College and Sparebankstiftelsen Nordvest to strengthen research, education and innovation related to ocean-based industries. Located in one of Europe’s most important ocean economies, the position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of knowledge that supports sustainable growth and competitiveness across fisheries, aquaculture, maritime transport and offshore industries. The candidate may play a central role in building an academic environment focusing on Ocean-Based Value Chains, strengthening collaboration with industry and public stakeholders, and developing internationally recognized research addressing challenges and opportunities in ocean-based supply chains and logistics systems.

Through interaction with regional industry clusters and national and international partners, the professor will have opportunities to develop research projects with high practical relevance and societal impact, while contributing to the advancement of the scientific field.

We are therefore seeking a candidate who will strengthen research and teaching in supply chains linked to ocean-based industries, including fisheries, aquaculture, offshore energy, and maritime transport. The job includes teaching courses in the study programs organized within the Faculty of Logistics. Course and curriculum development are also part of the job. The position also involves advising theses within our programs in logistics.

The research part of the job involves a responsibility to initiate, lead, participate in and sustain research at an international level focusing on Ocean-Based Value Chains as well as contributing actively to our research groups. At present, 45 % of your working hours are allocated to research and associated activities. The successful applicant will also be expected to supervise PhD-candidates and actively work to attract external funding. External funding might be used to reduce teaching requirements subject to approval from the dean. 

The primary place of work for this position is at our Campus in Kristiansund. However, Molde University College is a two-campus institution, and you may therefore be required to teach and participate in other activities at our campus in Molde.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. or equivalent scientific qualifications in a relevant field, including but not limited to Logistics, Supply chain management, or Economics, is required for the position.

The successful applicant must have research experience, documented through international publication, related to Ocean-Based Value Chains. Relevant research areas include, but are not limited to, Supply chain management, Optimization, Production planning, Efficiency analysis and Transport studies of activities in sectors where Ocean resources form the basis. 

Demonstrated ability to attract external funding and managing research projects will be seen as an advantage. In addition, experience collaborating with industry partners in research projects and knowledge dissemination will be considered an advantage.

Experience of teaching and developing courses in areas related to position, as well as experience of administrating and/or developing study programs, will be seen as advantageous. 

As this position involve teaching, the successful candidate must have excellent English communication and presentation skills. It will be seen as an advantage if the candidate can communicate and teach in a Scandinavian language. If the candidate cannot demonstrate fluency in a Scandinavian language, the appointee is expected to learn sufficient Norwegian to be able to participate in all functions the position may involve within three years from start-up. Expenses for Norwegian courses will be covered by the employer.

We offer

The wage is from NOK 930 000. There is a two percent deduction for superannuation contribution to the Norwegian State Pension Fund. The appointment will be in accordance with current Norwegian regulations concerning state employees.
